The Power of Animated Storytelling: Engaging Teens and Families in Self-Discovery
We are here on this planet to learn. This spinning schoolhouse in this vast universe is the perfect stage to play out our dreams, ambitions, foibles, and proclivities.
My journey from Broadway and film to a pilgrimage around the world and back again began with an NDE. Although I was raised with a very traditional Christian background, I needed to explore the various spiritual traditions in the world.
What is the essence of Life?
Over four years, I had the great good fortune to study in some of the deepest schools with great masters and teachers. I have such gratitude for the wisdom that I thirsted for and received.
On my journey, I realized that I was called to have a child in this particular community in India, Auroville, that is devoted to bringing in the children of this time. My first child, Suryananda, was born there and the experience was so powerful and beautiful that somewhere in my Being, I wanted to serve humanity as a midwife. To share the experience of how life changing birthing a baby could be was my wish.
After returning to the USA and spending the next three years in a community and school in West Virginia, where my son, Michael, was born, I moved to Boulder, CO and within a week, met a midwife and started going to births with her. I delved into the medical studies and learned to treat conditions that would arise through natural methods like homeopathy and herbology, acupuncture and energy healing. I became a Reiki Master.
My practice spanned twenty-five years, during which time I birthed two more children of my own, Mira and Noah, and helped bring in over 850 babies.
However, my very long-term passion project was the writing and producing an animated/live-action musical, The MicroCosmic Cartoon Show. It is the story of a young boy who needs to find himself and the essence of his life. He gets lost in the midway and sideshow of The Circus of Life, always missing the signs to the main attraction starring Cosmos the Magician. It is in development and I am raising funding through my 501c3, Friends of the MicroCosmic Cartoon Show.
The metaphor is mirrored in our lives as we traverse the mountains and valleys of our individual stories. My intention is to guide young people through the maze of this world to realize their own personal fulfillment.
“Through the vastness of space we forever will roam
But this planet called Earth, for the moment our home,
Must be honored and cherished
‘Til time is no more
And we find ourselves waltzing through Eternity’s door.”
