World Traveler and Scuba Diver Publishes Book for Kids of All Ages
Publisher note: We have long loved the ocean and learning about it! One of our favorite authors, Tam Warner Minton, is back with the second edition of All Fish Faces, a book we love and highly recommend.
Tam is an author, travel writer, photographer and enthusiastic scuba diver. Her blog, Travels with Tam, chronicles her adventures all over the globe. Her New 2nd Edition of ALL FISH FACES, encourages everyone, especially kids, to participate in citizen science, learn about the ocean, and preserve our ocean resources. By participating in scientific research expeditions all over the world, Tam is able to introduce readers to a variety of fish species and marine life. As a former University Lecturer and College Consultant, Tam believes that knowledge is power, and education is always a positive force. By encouraging our kids to care about ocean animals, we may be able to save the ocean for future generations.

As a former University Lecturer and College Consultant, I have an absolute belief that education is always a positive force. Knowledge is power. Travel and experience are the two greatest teachers of all. I’ve had the thrill of teaching many children and adults how to snorkel and dive, introducing them to the fantastic underwater world. Watching their excitement led me to write and publish my first children’s book, All Fish Faces Photos and Fun Facts about Tropical Reef Fish. I am very excited to announce the release of the 2nd Edition of All Fish Faces! The 2nd Edition includes new information, new photos, and has a brand new, colorful look that is guaranteed to interest kids of all ages. I was inspired to update my book because of my own granddaughter, who is 2 years old and obsessed with All Fish Faces. Seeing her joy in our fishy friends was so inspiring that I decided to continue my quest to educate our children about life under the sea and the threats that our oceans face.
The oceans support all the life on our planet, but the underwater world is facing significant changes and challenges. Climate change is propelling tropical fish and other ocean life into warmer and inhospitable waters. This change in the ecosystem can make food supplies scarcer for tropical fish and, ultimately, humans. This is a major crisis that isn’t just a job for scientists to solve—it’s up to all of us.
For many years I have been participating in "citizen science" when people, including kids, help scientists with their research and data collection. Through citizen science, I have been able to join scientists on dive explorations around the world and photograph a variety of marine creatures. The result is a colorful, photo book of tropical fish faces, containing educational, fun facts and tips for preserving our oceans. I hope that kids of all ages will understand the importance of ocean conservation by enjoying reading and looking at the book. I am specifically empowered to educate children on this topic and engage them in the exciting and awe-inspiring underwater world. I want people of all ages to see the color and wonder of the coral reefs, and if they cannot go to the ocean, I will bring the ocean to them!
Filled with an amazing collection of tropical fish and riveting facts, readers will be enlightened by:
• Incredible facts about a vast collection of tropical reef fish
• Up-close images of tropical fish, photographed while diving
• Advice on how we can help our ocean friends have a healthy and safe home, from recycling to using ocean-friendly sunscreen, and so much more!
• Knowing support of the book will benefit the Marine Megafauna Foundation, which strives to keep the ocean and our ocean giants from extinction
• The differences between mammals and fish
I have spent my adult life introducing children to the ocean, and I know the more kids learn about our oceans, the more they will want to participate in saving it. The book is available on Amazon in Kindle ($6.99) and Paperback (16.99). The Hardcover version will be available at various booksellers and from Ingram soon ($26.99). I am selling the book on my websites, www.tamwarnerminton.com and www.travelswithtam.com, at a significant discount.
Travel, experience, and visual learning has a real impact, and I hope the book will make kids want to go to the ocean and see for themselves.
