Ghost Haunt raises spirits to delight kids of all ages

Calico Ghost Town pulls out all stops for a haunting Halloween experience at the San Bernardino County Regional Parks, California.

(September 18, 2009 – YERMO)  Thrills, terror and sheer excitement return to Calico Ghost Town on Friday, October 23rd during the annual Ghost Haunt.  This year the town has gone all out to provide new horrors to the delight of anyone who attends this year’s event during two fun-filled weekends.

Silver Fever has invaded Maggie’s Mine.  Step into the mine and beware as ghosts and skeletons of dead miners jump out to greet you.  Flashes of lights, thunder and coffins appear from the various nooks and crannies of the mine.  This attraction is a scream a minute!

Guests will have an opportunity to take “The Last Ride”.  Climb into a real coffin and experience being taken down, down, down as if buried alive.  Plenty of scare in this attraction!

Return to the schoolhouse and be taught a lesson from the “dead” schoolmarm.  This will be a lesson you will not soon forget!

There will be trick-or-treating, costume contests, pumpkin carving, coloring contests, Halloween family-friendly movies, the reading of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven, panning for gold in “blood” (red water) and more in two back-to-back weekends packed with scary, family fun.

Ghosts promise to liven up this old West mining town, scene of the largest silver finds in California's history, for two back- to-back weekends in October. Silver Fever strikes Calico Ghost Town and old miners' ghosts promise shrieks of delights as they haunt their way through the town. With the help of a set designer, Maggie's Mine will provide terrifying thrills as you wind your way through the underground tunnels where miners' used to pike away for a piece of the mother lode.

Kids can pan for gold in "blood"; and the traditional favorites of trick-or-treating, costume contests, pumpkin carving and coloring will add to the charm. Other attractions feature a "haunted" Mystery Shack, the reading of "The Raven" and more.
