One of the interesting things about Coron’s history is its Japanese shipwrecks. One of the most-coveted activities in this island is diving to explore these World War II ruins.
These ruins actually signify a point in history when WWII Japanese ships moored in Coron Bay were bombarded from above. These sustained air raids on the Japanese Navy eventually sunk their vessels underwater. Today, the ruins can be found in their final resting place underneath the waters of Coron. The sunken treasures have become well-loved tourist attractions and diving sites.
