Foodie Find: West Virginia Pepperoni Rolls: A Photo Essay
Imagine you've visiting West Virginia and your hostess says, "Let's go have a pepperoni roll." At a doughnut shop?
Yes, The Donut Shop in Buckhannon, West Virginia makes the very most delectable pepperoni rolls in North Central WV. You can find them at grocer's, gas stations, eateries and most local cooks make their own simply by rolling out frozen dough into roll-size pieces, adding lots of pepperoni and hot (or not) cheese, folding, sealing to enclose each bun and baking.
Happy fingers knead the dough and shape into bun size pieces and bake. At the time of ordering the doughnut Shop opens the roll and adds generous amounts of ground-up pepperoni and chunks of moz cheese and heats the roll to piping hot to serve.
Almost heaven: That pepperoni roll, a hot cup of coffee, the chocolate-all-the-way doughnut.
And here are my guests, come all the way from New England and Australia, dining at The Doughnut Shop. Then on to visit the covered bridge at Philippi where the first land battle of the Civil War was fought.

I've never heard tell of a pepperoni roll. Certainly looks to be worth a try!
