Great Family Fun with Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate!
Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate!, featuring more than 50 classic and contemporary Disney characters in a captivating compilation of favorite holidays and celebrations from around the world.
Audiences will experience the ultimate celebration of celebrations as they join Mickey Mouse and friends on a delightful tour of festivities jam-packed with fun surprises, spectacular skating and vibrant costumes. The production’s original storyline transports audiences to exciting events with their favorite Disney characters, including a Valentine’s Day Royal Ball with the newest Disney Princess, Tiana; a Very Merry UnBirthday Party with Alice and the Mad Hatter; Jack Skellington’s frightfully festive Halloween party with the Disney Villains; and a Hawaiian luau with Lilo and Stitch.
Sorcerer's Apprentice Glow in the Dark Brooms
I'm so happy to share our experiences at Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate! last night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Our daughter has already shared her experiences here. This was truly an evening of family fun!
First, though, I'd like to say that the ushers at the Palace were incredible. I use a wheelchair at times, and they were more than accommodating in getting us to our seats, and taking care of us. Thank you!
The show started off with Mickey and Minnie and the gang, and a special tea party with Alice in Wonderland! The costumes were fun, and Mickey was so silly. We were laughing, but perhaps not as hard as the little kids behind us a few rows. Such exuberant laughter was a joy to hear!
Jack Skellington, a Nightmare Before Christmas
My favorite part was with the Disney villains! It started with Mickey's Sorcerer's Apprentice - with some magical glow in the dark dancing/skating brooms! CRAZY! Then, it morphed into Jack, from a Nightmare Before Christmas, and his skating zombies. This was truly magical, with very creative costumes. Jack skated, and jumped, and leaned nonchalantly against the old stone wall - only to welcome one Disney villain after another - Cruella deVille, Captain Hook, Jafar, and others. Smoke and quick skating enhanced the entertainment - and the bad guys were chased away by "ghosts" - sheet-covered good guys! Truly something special!
Seven Disney Princesses - including Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen [from Walt Disney Pictures’ The Princess and the Frog] - all graced the stage at the Valentine's Ball. Minnie was looking for love, and with audience participation (Bibbity Bobbity Boo!), all of the princesses and their princes showed their love - and skating finesse! This was Lillie's favorite part (especially Ariel). Great scenery, costumes, and dancing.
Another fun part was the beach party with Lilo and Stitch. The skaters came out in beach costumes, had a blast, and even lit the ice afire! Goofy doing the limbo on a surfboard was crazy silly.
Other parts were equally fun - a group scene at the end, with everyone participating -even a troll doll and a piggy bank from Toy Story! But the best part, for me, was the travel. Mickey and Minnie were traveling around the world, visiting China, Japan (tea ceremony, Sakura!), Brazil, and Hawaii (see above). If this is the first exposure that some kids get to the joys of travel, fantastic! As well, the skating, choreography, lighting and stage design - were all extraoradinary. I can't imagine the talent - and hours - it takes to achieve such a spectacular show.
We had such a great time and highly recommend Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate! to any families with kids. We talked about it all the way home (all 2.5 hours!).
