I'm all for supporting good things, as our Wandering Educators know! And do I have a good one today - it's a smartphone app that is all about sharing travel experiences (read our tagline! We love sharing travel experiences!). It's currently in development, and I'm impressed. Here's why... it was created by a 15 year-old - and we know that millenials know what they are doing online.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Pinit creator Tyler Ball, to learn more about the app, inspiration, being a teen entrepreneur, and more. Here's what he had to say...

Please tell us about the Pinit Smartphone App...

Pinit is a social media app and it's all about sharing where you are in the world; whenever you take a photo or video it will automatically record and add your location. Ultimately, Pinit is a unique and fun way to record your life's journey with friends and family. I plan to make this the best app out there for people who travel often.

What inspired you to create this app?

I've always been fascinated by being an entrepreneur, and while on a cruise visiting different countries, I wanted an app that was made for recording your location while traveling. However, I really wasn't satisfied with any other app that could do that, so I validated an idea with friends and family - they said they would all use it! So I thought, why not make this app I've thought of?

What can people expect when using this app? How is it different from other location-based apps?

We've made this app more personal - you have the option to share to the world or privately, so only you can review it. Also we have added new features on the app that have never been seen on any other social media app I know of. When joining apps like Foursquare, I found it really complicated and didn't like the experience. With Pinit, one of the most important things I have worked on is the actual design of the app and I have made sure it's perfect. My aim is just give people an amazing experience when they start using the app.

Tell us more about the Pinit team!

Team Pinit is based in the United Kingdom, in Milton Keynes. We're all determined to make this the next big app for travel and social media, and we are all similar ages - 15-16. We've all helped design the app and actually hired some professional designers to improve the user interface; we've also got a team of programmers to develop the app for us.

How can people learn more (and help)?

The best way to support this app is to go on our website and subscribe to our updates on when the app is released. we also currently have a Kickstarter to raise money to finish the development and also help market the app and potentially put the app on Apple Watch and Android in the future. 

Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?

For any young people who are reading this, if you have an idea for something then go and make it happen. When I told everyone I was making an app, they laughed and didn't believe me... so you have to believe in your idea and yourself and great things will happen.
