There are two typical scenarios when it comes to going on holiday. The first one is the dream situation. Everything goes perfectly; you’ve packed everything, got to the airport on time and are ready to spend a few weeks in heaven. The other one is your worst nightmare. Your house is a mess, you’re failing to fit your life into a suitcase, everything’s been left until the very last minute and you’re starting to wish that you’d never bothered booking the blimin’ holiday in the first place! Sound familiar? It happens to the best of us. But the truth is that there are means and ways of avoiding holiday preparation from hell. To help you start your vacation in style, we’re here to provide you with a few tips on how to best ensure your trip runs smoothly.

Stay in a hotel

This is one of our favourite ideas for so many reasons! First of all, it forces you to be ready on time. If punctuality isn’t one of your strong points then staying in an airport hotel may be the answer to all your problems; you’re given the gift of time! Being in the nightmare situation is a lot less stressful when you know that the worst possible outcome is not having much free time to spend in your hotel room; far better than the thought of missing your flight! Staying in an airport hotel can also have other perks, as Manchester airport hotels demonstrate; here, there are loads of benefits, from getting your airport parking included in the overall price, to enjoying the special offers provided by the hotel you’re staying in. You’ll have to agree that opting for this would be so much more convenient than traveling (and panicking!) on the day, so why not consider starting your holiday a little earlier?

Your case

Our advice with this is to plan, plan, plan!  There’s nothing worse than organising your suitcase an hour before you have to leave for the airport only to realise that you’re missing half of what you need, nothing will fit in your case and that it weighs ten kilos more than it should do. Never good. What we suggest you do is to get yourself sorted! Maybe a month before you set off on your journey, create a list of all the essentials that you need, from suncream and bikinis, to snacks for the plane and flip flops; this way, there is no chance of you forgetting that must need item.

Work and Home

This is a really important aspect to guaranteeing a stress free holiday; to ensure that your house is being well looked after and that any work queries can be seen to by one of your colleagues. Imagine lying on a white sand beach only to get a call from your neighbour to say that your house has been broken into, or someone from work ringing to tell you that the office has fallen apart without you. Brilliant. What you need to do is make sure this all is dealt with before you leave, so you’re free to enjoy your holiday as you please.
