Passports with Purpose
Here at Wandering Educators, we are committed to supporting humanitarian efforts around the world. We're very pleased to participate in a charity raffle called Passports with Purpose - a raffle with incredible travel gifts, to aid Heifer International. Put together by some really committed fellow travel bloggers, Debbie, Pam, Beth, and Michelle, so many people and organizations in the world of travel have donated prizes.
As we all have traveled around the world, we've seen many, many instances where we wish we could help. Here's a way to do just that - and win some pretty incredible prizes along the way.
Heifer International is a global aid organization that works to alleviate hunger and poverty, worldwide. Today, Passports with Purpose is starting a month-long raffle to support Heifer International.
Here's how you do it:
First, check out Passports with Purpose.
Peruse the incredible prizes, and pick which you'd like to win.
Then, head to Firstgiving and donate $10 for each prize you'd like to be entered in the raffle for - on your donation, please note the number of the prize on that raffle ticket you just bought (put it in the comments section).
Make sure you don't hide your email address, so that Passports with Purpose can contact you when you win!
Want more than one prize? Buy more than one raffle ticket. Remember, all funds raised - minus the fees paid to Firstgiving - go directly to Heifer International. Yep. All these great prizes? DONATED!!
For our part, we've donated two copies of Lonely Planet's new travel guide book to Syria and Lebanon, thanks to one of our Partners, Lonely Planet. You know how we love books!! We interviewed one of the authors, Lara Dunston, here in one of our Book Reviews of the Week. It was an incredible interview, and made me want to head there immediately!
We've also donated, courtesy of Frommer's, 6 copies each of
Frommer's 500 Places to See Before They Disappear
Frommer's NYC Free & Dirt Cheap
and Pauline Frommer's Cancun and the Yucatan
and, courtesy of Barbara at Living Mindfully, 5 copies of her ebook
A Mindful Christmas, by Barbara Elizabeh Kilikevicius
includes a huge listing of international humanitarian organizations, if readers choose to spend their gift money nontraditionally.
The raffle ends at 11:59pm, PST, December 29th. HURRY!

It is no suprise that Wandering Educators is in on this great fundraiser too. You can check out my post and contribution at http://openroad-openpage.blogspot.com as well. I am bundling three of my guidebooks as a prize and will send them to a lucky raffle winner.
