If you’re like me, you’ve tried, worn through, and discarded dozens of headphones. Whether for listening to music, talking on the phone, working in a public area, or recording something on radio, skype, or youtube live, headphones are a necessity for life!

Recently we were sent a beautiful pair of LSTN cherry wood troubadour headphones to review (thank you!). Let me tell you: these are the best headphones I’ve ever used.

Here’s why:

The sound from these headphones is very clear. The soundstage is wide – similar to open air headphones – that may be because of the wood chambers, but one could say also that the bass is true to life; by that, I mean there’s an almost 3D effect to the sound. There have been times where I’ve had the headphones on, listening to a discussion, and I thought that someone was actually in the room with me. I reached for my headphones and noticed that they were on.

The wood used for the chambers are sustainably sourced using reclaimed wood, and provide a rich depth of sound that is unmatched by regular headphones.

I love the padded headphones – it feels like you aren’t wearing anything, really – sort of like working from home in your pajamas: it feels great.

The microphone works well and is very clear. We (note the we: they keep disappearing from my desk) don’t use them much for talking on the cell phone with a mike, but primarily as listening headphones and for skype calls.

The cords are tangle-free, and are detachable.
