Dog Meets World Foto of the Week: Printing Smiles in Mexico
Becca Cohen, a newly minted graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park heard about Dog Meets World through idealist.org. She described her interest by stating "When I was traveling in southern Africa last year as part of my study abroad time, it was incredible seeing how excited all the children would get when we took their pictures and let them see it on the digital screen. My friends and I had discussions about how these children probably didn't have pictures of themselves, and many might not even have had mirrors. Dog Meets World is a perfect project to fill this void".
Becca took her interest one step forward and volunteered to work with Dog Meets World as the first intern this past spring and brought the project to Mexico on her Alternate Spring Break program sponsored by Hillel at the UMD. She introduced DMW to all her fellow students. The experience fulfilled all her expectations and their success was measured in the smiles on the faces of the children in the local orphanage after receiving their photographs!
