Postcard From Bangkok

It is impossible to capture all of Thailand’s many faces in just one picture.  The country has many different aspects between the jungles, beaches, and cities.  However, I noticed that each part of the country is gorgeous in different ways.

This image was taken at The Grand Palace in Bangkok.  Each king that has ever held the throne in Thailand has built a palace here.  There are dozens of gold-covered palaces in this section of Bangkok.  The majestic palaces are meticulously cared for and cleaned on a daily basis.  When my family was there, we saw many men fixing the gold on each palace; there are so many palaces that the job is never complete.

Bangkok Grand Palace

Thai people have enormous amounts of respect for these Grand Palaces.  Many are deemed too sacred to even enter, and I had to take off my shoes to enter the others.  All women must wear skirts below their knees.

I loved The Grand palace because it was the one relatively quite and calm area that we visited in Bangkok.  Aside from the hundreds of people around you, there is no car noise or vendors in a street fair screaming to buy their goods.  Not that the latter is bad, in fact, I loved all of the different experiences both in the city of Bangkok and in the jungle, but the difference is to experience the different moods and cultures that Thailand has to offer.

Sarah - you certainly gave us a glimpse into life in Bangkok - thank you! I especially appreciate the tips for clothing - that's so important. Thanks!
