Sydney ... and the bush
A photoadventure around Sydney...
Sydney at sunset from Balls Head on the Parramatta River, alas Harry Seidler’s McMahon’s Point ’tower’ attempts to spoil the view!
The old Finger Wharves, now theatres and shops, and beyond, the Opera House.
I am sailing, I am sailing …
Bridge climbers - now a multi million dollar business
The old General Post Office, in Martin Place, now a Westin Hotel
Sydney’s first permanent Church, designed by a convict, Francis Greenway, a forger whose face is on a banknote!
The old Military Barracks from 1817, now a museum
The boar outside the Sydney Hospital - polish his snout for good health although clearly some polish a different part!!
William Shakespeare - I think he probably wanted to be an Aussie and settle here in his own hamlet, you know, in that as you like it way. And where there is a Will Anne hath a way, but of course, all’s well that ends well … in Oz!
The State Library where I went to see the Silent Film Festival’s ‘The Big Parade’ about WW1 the 1924 “oscar” winner, at lunchtime today
The Sydney Harbour Bridge
The part of the bridge that marks the start of the walk over the arch
The Anzac Bridge from the Fish Markets
Sign at Frenchy’s restaurant getting ready for Sunday brunch and the little restaurant, above. The Harbour Foreshore Historical society has taken over an old Army camp (since 1880s) when Middle Head controlled the entrance to Port Jackson with a network of hidden gun pits.
The Heads, the entrance to Port Jackson - Sydney Harbour - and the Manly Ferry
The Manly Ferry passes by
KOOKABURRA SITS IN THE OLD GUM TREE Merry, merry king of the bush is he - laugh kookaburra laugh … old Oz song
Ciao, ciao Bambino - getting into the thing would be quite a Fiat!
Chowder Bay and Sydney in the background
Kookas everywhere
Shot across the bows of the Manly Ferry!
Wendy and I at Middle Head.
