Traveling Somewhere? Take these essentials with you!
Going on a trip far-flung across the ends of the world? Or maybe just stocking up for safety on your great journey to your neighbor next door for a barbeque?
To the ends of the world or not, we’ve all had that one moment where we just stare blank at our backpacks—we’re more lost on what to bring than where we should go. Sadly, not everyone is equipped with the knowledge of travel essentials, causing them not to enjoy the best of their trip, or worse – experience health emergencies.
Don’t worry because you aren’t alone here. It’s been an endless warfare deciding what to bring and how many, and more often than not you’d end up packing too little or too much…Well, not anymore.
These are the top 10 items you should learn to carry with you anywhere you go, be it to Grandma’s or to the very heart of Mordor. Learn the art of travel essentials, newbie!
1. Torch
You don’t want to be that person flicking the light switches at 3 AM, with your roommates asleep. That torch comes handy for the +10 sneak skill and maybe just a party baton at a blackout; either way, you wouldn’t know when you’d trek the very darkest depths of oblivion.
2. Garments
Of course, you need clothes! But in those small walks, it doesn’t hurt to bring an extra shirt or two.
3. Baby Wipes
Sure, it sounds like the contents of Grandma’s safety pouch, but trust me, the wipes are like the gift from Heaven. You could use them to clean scrapes and scratches, table tops, your bbq-covered chin…Almost anything! In a pinch, use wipes from your favorite fish and chips shop.
4. Phone and Charger
For communication purposes…Primarily. Phones nowadays could be your cam, music player - it could even be smarter than you are. Your phone can multi-task, but be careful not to run it down. But if it does, you should always have a charger. If possible, carry a power bank or find a solar-powered charger for your unit so you won’t be stuck when there are no outlets.
5. Pen and Paper
Something to have a worthwhile connection with the world and you. Who knows, you could write your award-winning novel at that very moment in the diner…well that, and it’s handy jotting down important info. You could go digital, but where’s the fun in that?
6. Extra Pocket Cash
Better safe than sorry, especially when there’s a great deal just around the corner.
7. Map
Unless you’re a psychic, it’s probably best to keep a map or a list of directions to where you’re going.
8. Credentials
Be it Visa, Passport, Driver’s License, even your ID in the 2nd grade, any form of ID is important.
9. Windbreakers and Raincoats
Your spirit may not fear the cold and storm, but your body and your stuff do. Don’t get sick trying to be Iron Man! Remember, Iron Man has a suit that protects him from the elements - you should, too.
10. Antihisthamine Tablets
A whole new world means whole new things, and those whole new things might get you bloated up with allergies. It is a must to keep antihistamine tablets ready in your pocket in case of allergy attacks. Trust me on this - I've been there.
