Did you know that it’s possible to see almost the entire city of Paris for free?

It’s true. I arrived in Paris last Thursday night and upon checking into my hotel checked out a bunch of brochures in the lobby. One brochure immediately caught my eye: Free Paris Tours.

Intrigued, I checked out the brochure…there had to be some kind of catch, right? I mean, nothing is free!

Sandemans New Europe Tours make it possible for travelers on a budget to see European cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, London, Madrid and more for absolutely free.

How could these tours possibly be free? The brochure I picked up explains, “Our guides, graduates of some of the world’s leading universities, have settled in Paris because they love this city and its remarkable history. We want everyone to experience Paris, regardless of budget. That’s why we work on a tips-only basis.”

The brochure listed the sites we would see on our 3 and a half hour walking tour: Notre Dame, Musee d’Orsay,Tuileries Gardens, The Louvre and many more.

My friends and I were sold.

We headed to the meeting place and signed in with a guide. We were broken into 3 groups and given tour guides. My tour guide Sam was great; she was super informative and funny.

The tour began and we walked past many of Paris’s most famous sites. Sam knew so much about the history of Paris, but kept it entertaining since we were a mostly young college-student crowd.

Along with telling us about Paris’s rich history, she showed us spots from movies and television shows that had been taped in Paris. I was especially excited to see the bridge from the final episode of Sex and the City and a fountain that was featured in the movie The Devil Wears Prada.

Since I was only in Paris for 3 short days, this tour was a great way to see a huge chunk of the city in a short period of time. I was able to get an overview of some of Paris’s major attractions. The tour helped me decide which museums and spots I wanted to check out more closely in the next 2 days.

I think it’s great that New Europe Tours offers this kind of deal to those who might not be able to afford to see Paris another way. This tour was perfect for students and young travelers and I would definitely recommend checking it out in any city its offered in!
