Barcelona is a crazy, yet wonderful city filled with rich history and architecture, but also delicious food and a fabulous nightlife.

I had the privilege of traveling to Barcelona for a quick weekend in June and I got only a small glimpse into the beauty that is Barcelona, Spain.

I learned that most people who live in Barcelona don’t eat dinner until quite late, usually around midnight. After dinner, they head out for a night of partying and generally don’t come home until early in the morning. Since we were in Barcelona, we decided to live as they do and headed to dinner around 11:45 p.m.

We stumbled upon this particular restaurant by chance; we were wandering the streets of Barcelona and saw a packed, but welcoming restaurant and decided to eat there. The restaurant is called La Ternerita and actually has two locations in Barcelona.

I was a little nervous about the food, because I’m a quite picky eater, but I was immediately put at ease looking at the menu. The menu offered several different grilled meats. I was set.

We started off by ordering a pitcher of sangria. The pitcher came out with several lemons and oranges crushed into the liquid. I poured myself a glass and took a sip. Delicious! The wine was very sweet.

For my meal, I ordered sirloin brochette with pepper and bacon. The dish arrived with the meat on a sizzling skewer with fried potatoes and a bit of salad. We didn’t eat too much meat in Rome, so it was great to finally have some beef in Barcelona. The meal was absolutely delicious.

After dinner, we headed to a much raved about bar that specializes in shots. The bar is called Chupito’s and features over 200 different kinds of shots. They often light the bar (and your shot!) on fire and use different props and costumes.

My friends and I decided to do the “boy scout” shot which involved roasting a marshmallow and then taking a shot.  The next shot we did involved dipping our finger in the shot, then the bartender lit our thumb on fire, sucking our thumb and taking a shot.

Let’s just say this bar was a crazy experience that definitely could not have been had anywhere but in Barcelona! The best part about this bar? Each shot was only 2 Euro; definitely a deal when you consider the price of drinks at most bars.

Although I was in Barcelona for a short time, I was lucky to get a taste of the incredible nightlife and dining.
