Job Description
Overview
The primary area of responsibility is to assist the Financial Controller
in achieving accurate and timely accounting information, sound financial
controls and financial process improvements. However, the role will also
incorporate elements of office management and human resources.
Governance
* The Assistant Accountant reports directly to the Financial Controller
with a dotted line to the Vice President of Institutional Relations.
* The Assistant Accountant is responsible for operating within the
limits of the policies and procedures of CAPA.
Skill and experience
* Previous experience in a management accounting role
* Demonstrate sound management accounting skills
* The ability to work to deadlines, and adapt a flexible approach to
meet the needs of the business
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of payroll
* Previous experience in the production of bank reconciliations
* Customer Services both internal and external
* Ideally experience of College bursary functions
Qualifications
* Ideally part-qualified working towards a professional accountancy
qualification
* Previous experience of an accounting package such as QuickBooks, Sage
* Minimum Bachelors degree

Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and accounting
* Sales ledger, invoice production and credit control.
* Student financial aid liaison
* Purchase ledger, input and payment ensuring appropriate authorisation
* Banking deposits and monthly reconciliations
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Expense claim management
* Credit card processing and recording
* Housing deposit management
* Assisting the Financial Controller in the production of monthly
management accounts
* Work alongside the Financial Controller in the production of
spreadsheets to support the management team and aid business
decisions
* Provide support on an ad hoc basis to both the Financial Controller
and the Vice President of Institutional Relations on a wide variety
of projects as and when required
Office Management
* Collection and distribution of post
* Liaison for IT
* Petty cash and stamp inventory and management
* Ordering office supplies
* Liaison for student and general insurance
* Contract production
Human Resources
* Maintain PTO records
* Time sheet collection
* Payroll processing as appropriate
* Liaison for government filing requests
* Administration of company benefits
