Dubai and Sharjah are two well-known cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and are situated close to each other. For the longest time, the travel time between the two cities has been controversial for both locals and tourists. However, recent development has greatly shortened the travel time between Dubai and Sharjah, thus amplifying connectivity and convenience. The development project for the Garn Al Sabkha Street Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road Intersection has been awarded a contract by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The project aims to build four bridges with a combined length of 3,000 meters and a carrying capacity of 17,600 cars per hour. RTA has allocated the project a budget of DH 374 million.

The project was mapped out after the instructions of the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and sovereign of Dubai, H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince of Dubai and Chair of the Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to keep up with the changing profile of Dubai. The project also seeks to accommodate the growing needs of urban development and city population growth.

After the project is complete, the travel time distance from Garn Al Sabkha Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road heading to Al Qusais and Sharjah will be reduced by 40%. This will reduce the journey time from 20 minutes to just 12 minutes during peak hours. Additionally, the travel time from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road leading to Al Yalayis Road in the direction of Jebel Ali Port will be reduced by 70% from 21 minutes to 7 minutes. 

The Garn Al Sabkha Street Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project entails the building of four bridges. The first bridge, which stretches the intersection of Garn Al Sabkha Street and Al Asayel Street, is 960 meters long and has two lanes. The bridge will handle 8,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, thus speeding up the traffic between Sheikh Mohammed bin and Zayed Road Sheikh Zayed Road. The second bridge is 660 meters long, and has capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour. The two lane-bridge will serve the traffic from Garn Al Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Northwards, moving to Al Qusais and Sharjah.
 
The third bridge is a two-lane 700 meters with a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour and aims to streamline traffic flow and do away with overlapping traffic from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road moving northward to Al Yalayis Road towards the Jebel Ali Port. The last one is a two-lane 680 meters with a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour and will curb overlapping and ensure smooth traffic starting from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to the service road leading to the Dubai Production City. 

The development of several transportation options in Dubai and Sharjah has also boosted the connectivity between the two cities. The public bus service, which the RTA runs, offers consistent and affordable transport between the two cities. Taxis as well are readily available for convenient door-to-door services.

In addition to the reduced travel time between Dubai and Sharjah, UAE visit visa regulations have made it simpler for tourists to explore the city. Dubai is prominent for its world-class destinations, such as the Dubai Mall, the Palm Jumeirah, and the iconic Burj Khalifa. The Dubai Authority has put in place visitor-friendly visa policies to promote tourism and boost the economy.

The visa allows tourists to stay in the city for a specific duration, usually between 30 to 90 days, depending on the type of visa acquired.
