Eat Smart in Turkey Culinary Tour
August 13 - 21, 2013
Joan's annual tour to Turkey is a culinary odyssey through ancient, Ottoman, and modern Turkey. It includes cooking classes and demonstrations, visits to food markets, spice bazaars, and special menus specifically chosen for the group. Participants come away with knowledge of the culinary traditions and a deep appreciation of the magnitude of history and culture that this ancient land possesses. But it’s not all about the food: the major tourist sights of Istanbul, the Mediterranean, and magical Cappadocia will be visited and there will still be time to shop and relax along the way. The tour is limited to 8-11 participants, and costs $2950 plus airfare.
Eat Smart in Norway Culinary Tour
July 17 - 27, 2013
This tour is the debut of Joan’s culinary adventures for travelers in beautiful Norway, land of the midnight sun. It occurs July 17-27 in western Norway and includes participation in cooking classes and chef demonstrations, visits to outdoor markets and food festivals, including the famous nationwide GLADMAT (happy food) food exposition along the harbor in Stavanger, and special menus specifically chosen for the group. But it’s not all about the food: the major tourist sights in western Norway will be visited, there will be cruises on the fjords, an exhilarating train ride to Flåm, and a ride on the funicular to Mt. Fløien. And, there will still be time to shop and relax along the way. The tour is limited to 12-18 participants and costs between $5550-$4475 plus airfare, depending on the number of participants.

I love Turkish food. When I was there apple tea was the drink of choice when welcoming guests.
