What do you do when you’re bored? Do you play with your dog? Watch TV? Or do you do what most people do, go on YouTube? No need to lie. I do the same.

Are there families that get along during the holidays? Possibly, but in my case, no. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family. They love me and are funny, and are always there for me, but they drive me absolutely nuts! Up until now, I never noticed how crazy and dysfunctional the Siegel family is.

Autumn, fall, pre-winter, crunch-leaves season; there are many names for (in my opinion) the best season of them all. Maybe it’s the promise of the upcoming holiday season, or the delectable, hearty smell of burning leaves.

There is an expression my family uses: you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting……(Insert noun). In Marietta, Georgia, you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting history. History is everywhere. On every block, there is a historic house. There is a surprising amount of museums in this small town. History and modern culture blend together in harmony.

I have wanted to travel abroad for as long as I can remember. The promise of stepping off the transport, being thrust into a new culture with different rules (written and unwritten) and different ways of life excites. Travelling around the US has given me some experience, but I can’t just jump into traveling abroad and expect to know everything. 

There are many paths to take to find a career that can combine travel and work. The first thing that springs to mind is travel blogging. I decided to go off the beaten path, and explore some careers that are less popular, but are still very adventurous.

The first thing I noticed when I stepped off of the shuttle from the impromptu parking lot (the original one was already filled to the max!) was the overwhelming smell. Funnel cakes. I could practically taste the delectable soft cloud in my mouth.

Why would anyone want to walk seven miles along the Washington mall? There are plenty of logical reasons. There is no parking. You are some kind of walking guru. Or, in my case, you want to see the MLK Jr. 50 year anniversary speech. Maybe you could compare this short walk to the March on Washington.

There is a soft aroma of burnt wood and sea salt swirling around me, like how the ocean itself swirls. I smell a faint aroma of sunscreen, probably from the hours we spent on the white sand beach. In this moment, we are in a complete state of happiness. The sound of crashing waves softly wafts from over the dunes.
