I’ve wanted to be a paleontologist since I was six years old. In addition to the Barbie dolls and Legos I played with, my parents would buy me books on dinosaurs and plastic dinosaur toys because I was so fascinated by these larger-than-life creatures that once walked the earth.

Since moving back to Pittsburgh nearly a year ago, I’ve been exploring different places around the city with my husband, Fernando, and I can’t say enough how much I’ve enjoyed exploring this amazing place that I call home! I see this place with such a new perspective and appreciation, and often feel like I’m seeing everything for the very first time.

Stephanie Barrick is a student at the University of Pittsburgh working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Communication & Rhetoric and Political Science, due to graduate in April 2015.

Jamie Bergey is a current student at the University of Pittsburgh and will graduate in April 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies and Economics. She completed an international internship in London, England with the MAMA Youth Project organization.

Alexandra O’Neill graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in April 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communication and a Certificate in Western European Studies. She had an amazing international internship with the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium and Washington, D.C.

As a Career Consultant who works with many students who’re interested in careers abroad, I receive so many requests from students who’re interested in a job that entails "some form of travel." One often overlooked career is in Foreign Service — a career designed to promote the peace and prosperity of citizens of the U.S.

With all the possibilities and interests one person has, choosing a major can be challenging. Add in the search for an internship and that can be even more stressful. Heidi Cousineau, a soon to be December 2014 graduate from the University of Pittsburgh, will be earning a degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics.

Each summer, countless visitors across the country enjoy taking their families to zoos and aquariums all across the United States. There’s something about watching wild animals that’s captivating. There’s a level of curiosity that entrances both children and adults as they view the animals in a habitat where they can get up close and personal and learn more about them.
