Norway's Dancing Auroras and Coronas
I've previously shared some incredible Northern lights in Norway, as well as How to Photograph Northen Lights. I go out almost every night to photograph these fabulous auroras in action in Norway.
But today I have something special to share with you - something rare - coronas!
This was an incredible night; the sky exploded in green, and right upwards, suddenly it just danced down towards me, in spectactular colours!
The coronas didn't last more than a few seconds, but the rest of the auroradance lasted for some hours. I LOVE Coronas!
Coronas happen when the aurora outbursts are powerful, high kp- value. KP 0-9 where 9 is most powerful. The magnet field must also be good, and the speed of light must be high. Think the speed at this moment of capture was around 700 km/sec!
